Google Caffeine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Google Caffeine referred to a published in June 2010 Infrastructure - Update of the search engine index of Google . The indexing process of the Google search engine has been fundamentally changed by the new infrastructure .

The aim of the new search index was to increase the indexing speed many times over. Google Caffeine was the first step in a process to optimize the size, accuracy, and completeness of the Google index.

The new infrastructure only includes changes in the background and no new user interface .

history

Before the infrastructure update, Google's search index consisted of several layers. To update a shift, the entire web had to be analyzed, which took a certain amount of time. There was thus a significant delay between the time the page was discovered and its visibility in the index .

In 2000 the index was only updated every 4 months. At the end of 2001 the indexing frequency was increased to once a month.

The new search index Caffeine includes an incremental and continuous crawling and indexing process. Each website can now be crawled separately and included in the index shortly after publication.

reasons

Due to the increasing expectations of search engine users and website operators, the constantly growing number of websites and the increasing diversity of website content, Google had to act and fix the lack of response speed.

Effects

Google Caffeine offers approximately 50% more current and extensive search results. The additional indexing of various multimedia content such as news , newsfeed , blog articles and postings creates the largest collection of web content that Google has ever been able to offer. The constant updating of the index enables searchers constant access to current content.

Website operators benefit from the increased speed and greater scope for creating high-quality and multimedia content. Websites with current content or a higher update frequency are preferred in the search result lists.
