Google panda

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Google Panda (also called Panda Update ) refers to an update of the Google search engine algorithm released in February 2011 . This was directed against websites of inferior quality and with little content.

The "Panda" first became active at the end of February 2011. The aim of the update was to give pages with high quality content a better rating in the search result lists . In return, content farms in particular were downgraded. The first update affected approximately 12 percent of all search queries.

The algorithm was updated at irregular intervals. On September 18, 2012, a Google Panda update was officially confirmed on Twitter. Another Panda update was released on January 22, 2013. It covered approximately 1.2 percent of all English-language search queries. Panda has been integrated into the normal indexing process since mid-2013. Version 4.0 became active on May 21, 2014. Another update to version 4.1 took place at the end of September 2014. Another update to version 4.2 took place in mid-July 2015.

In April 2012, another algorithm update was published with Google Penguin , which affected 3.1 percent of all English-language search queries. In autumn 2013, Google Hummingbird was the most significant modification of the Google search algorithm since 2000.
