Place of worship for the Gorleben prayer

The Gorleben prayer is an ecumenical initiative that arose in connection with the Gorleben interim storage facility .

Since 1989 a prayer has been celebrated every Sunday at 2 p.m. in the forest near Gorleben . The participants ask for “insight so that the Gorleben salt dome does not become a nuclear waste storage facility ”.

history

In the immediate vicinity of the interim storage facility and the Gorleben exploratory mine, those involved sit every Sunday on sacks of straw or, if it rains, under tarpaulins on a wall of earth fastened with planks. The participants come from all age groups, from different denominations and religions or are fundamentally distant from religions. Texts are read, speeches are given or songs are recited and sung.
