Gosenbacher Hut
The Gosenbacher Hütte , also called Obere Gosenbacher Hütte , was an ironworks west of Gosenbach in the Siegen district in what is now North Rhine-Westphalia . Fried iron was made in it . The main iron ore supplier was the neighboring Storch & Schöneberg mine .
The hut was first mentioned in 1417 and 1444. In 1876 a tunnel was built through which the slag sand was driven all around to fill the cavities in the mine structures. In 1895 the hut, which was currently out of service, was bought by the Storch & Schöneberg mine . A year later, the changeover from charcoal to coke operation and the restart of the hut took place. From 1917 the hut belonged to the Bremer Hütte in Geisweid through the takeover of the Storch & Schöneberg mine . In 1927 the Gosenbacher Hütte was shut down and demolished by 1932.
