Federal Office for Technical Regulation and Metrology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Federal Agency on Technical Regulating and Metrology ( Russian Федеральное агентство по техническому регулированию и метрологии , short Росстандарт , trans . Rosstandart ) is the national standards body of the Russian Federation . Until 2004 the authority was called Gosstandart .

In 2004 Gosstandart was integrated into the Russian Federal Ministry for Industry and Energy and renamed the Federal Office for Technical Regulation and Metrology ( Rostechregulirowanije for short ). The short name Rosstandart has been used since June 2010 . The name indicates the new role of the office and the efforts of the Russian government to reduce trade barriers and align the Russian economy more with the international market. Rosstandart recently worked with representatives from the public and private sectors to develop a national strategy on standards for the Russian Federation, known as the TR Declaration . This document provides a framework for the further development of the system based on voluntary consensus standards. As this system is still in its infancy in Russia, Rosstandard continues to support and finance the development of GOST-R standards.

In addition to managing GOST-R certification and other tasks, the office represents the Russian Federation in regional and international standardization bodies (such as ISO , IEC and EASC ).
