Goswin von Pont

Goswin von Pont (in some sources in, van, de, Pont or also called Punt , * 14th century in Aachen , † around 1365 ibid) was aldermen and mayor of the imperial city of Aachen .

Goswin von Pont was the brother of the mayor Wilhelm von Pont and was a member of the college of aldermen from 1341. Von Pont was a member of the city council in 1338, 1351 and 1364 and was elected mayor of the Free Imperial City of Aachen on August 25, 1361 .

As a delegate of the city of Aachen, von Pont was delegated several times to important negotiations and was a member from 1354 and from 1359 to 1364 a jury member in the constant consultations of the Maas-Rhine Peace Alliance . This alliance, founded in 1351 between Kurköln and the Duchy of Brabant as well as the cities of Aachen and Cologne, campaigned, among other things, for the lifting of unjust customs duties and the protection of traveling merchants and pilgrims.

Goswin von Pont was married and had several children, including the daughter Aleydis, who later became the prioress of the White Women's Monastery in Aachen .
