Gothaisches Genealogisches Handbuch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gothaische Genealogische Handbuch (GGH) is a book series in which the German Aristocracy Archive Marburg has been publishing the genealogies of the genders of the historical nobility since 2015 . The series is the successor to the Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility (GHdA), which was published until 2015 in cooperation with Starke Verlag in Limburg an der Lahn .

The title of the series is directly linked to the old Gotha court calendar , which appeared in the city of Gotha from 1742 to 1944 under slightly different titles and was continued after the Second World War by the Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility (GHdA). In April 2013, an out-of-court settlement was reached with the previous publisher after Starke Verlag had sued against the termination of its contract. The Genealogical Handbook of the Nobility was published by Starke up to volume 158.

In July 2015, Volume 1 of the new series was published by the Deutsches Adelsarchiv publishing house . The Gotha Genealogical Handbook is divided into four sub-series:

  • Gothaisches Genealogical manual of the princely houses with the three departments of the high nobility :
    • First division: ruling and formerly ruling houses
    • Second department: mediatized stately homes
    • Third department: titular princely houses of Europe
  • Gothaisches Genealogical Handbook of the Count's Houses
  • Gothaisches Genealogisches Handbuch der Freiherrlichen houses
  • Gothaisches Genealogical Handbook of Noble Houses
