Bóg jest miłością

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bóg jest miłością is for the Taizé Community written hymn in Polish . Above all, the German-language version “God is only love” is known in German-speaking countries.

text

Polish original version:

Bóg jest miłością
miejcie odwagę żyć dla miłości.
Bóg jest miłością
Never lękajcie się.

German singable translation:

God is only love
Dare to give everything for love.
God is only love.
Give yourselves without fear.

The German version is sung especially in weeks when many German-speaking young people are guests in Taizé. Many German-speaking choirs have also adopted the song in their repertoire.

Shape and spread

The song is a four-part short chant characteristic of the Taizé community . The song is sung over and over again in a meditative manner. There are also instrumental notes. Solo chants are not planned.

In addition to Polish and German, there are singing versions in five other languages: English (God is forgiveness), Portuguese (Deus é amor), Lithuanian (Dievas tai meilè), Italian (Dio è amore) and Dutch (God is vol lende).

It is subject to the copyright of “Ateliers et Presses de Taizé”, so it cannot be assigned to any composer known by name. This is the case with many newer Taizé songs.

It can be found in the current song booklet under number 103.

The song has been published on various CDs: Venite Exultemus (November 5, 2002, in German), Taizé Instrumental 2 (May 24, 2005, instrumental), Rest, Inspirations from Taizé (October 30, 2006, in German), Velaré Contigo ( Instrumental) (February 17, 2014), Tillit På Jorden (October 21, 2018, in Polish). It is interesting that it was not first published in the original language (Polish, not until 2018), but in one of the other languages (German, 2002).
