Gottfried II (Vendôme)
Gottfried II. Jordan (French: Geoffroy Jourdain ; † after 1102) was Count of Vendôme and as Gottfried III. Lord of Preuilly . He was a son of Lord Gottfried II von Preuilly († 1067) and the Almodis.
Gottfried was married to Euphrosine, the daughter of Count Fulko of Vendôme . After the death of his brother-in-law, Count Burchard III. , he succeeded in the county of Vendôme in 1085. He was in the resistance against the strong Angevin influence in the Vendomois and was taken prisoner by Lancelin of Beaugency, a follower of the Counts of Anjou , from which he was only able to free himself in 1090 after a ransom was paid. In the conflict with the Angevin Abbey of Sainte-Trinité , he was apparently excommunicated, whereupon he took part in the First Crusade in penance . He was mentioned by William of Tire in 1102 when they took Tortosa . At the second battle of Ramla in the same year he was taken prisoner by the Fatimids , in which he died at an unknown time.
