Gottfried Uwe Richter

Gottfried Uwe Richter (born September 24, 1930 in Offenbach / Main ; † August 8, 1977 in Berlin ) was a German draftsman and graphic artist .

Life

Gottfried Uwe Richter was the son of the painter Gottfried Richter (1904–1968) and at the age of 16 he was a student of Max Pechstein at the Berlin University of Fine Arts . After moving to East Berlin in 1951, he worked there as a master class student under Max Lingner at the German Academy of the Arts . He later formed a studio community with Rita Preuss and Ernst Schroeder . After initial notable success as an artist, Richter fell ill and died at the age of 46.
