Gottschalk Diederich Baedeker Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gottschalk Diederich Baedeker Prize has been awarded annually since 1984. Its aim is to highlight the research achievements of the University of Duisburg-Essen and to make their benefits in society, especially in Essen and the Ruhr Metropolis, visible. He is annually by the G.-D.-BaedekerFoundation in Essen and is endowed with € 5,000. The G.-D.-Baedeker Foundation supports cultural and scientific projects in your city. The prize is named after the Essen bookseller and publisher Gottschalk Diederich Baedeker, who developed the traditional Essen bookstore GD Baedeker, founded in 1775, into one of the most important printing and publishing houses of its time in Essen. The patron of the award is the Lord Mayor of Essen .
