Dominik Heider

Dominik Heider (* 1982 in Essen) is a German bioinformatician .

Heider studied computer science at the University of Münster from 2002 to 2006 . After graduating in 2006, he worked as a research assistant in Experimental Tumor Biology and the Institute for Computer Science at the University of Münster, where he received his doctorate in 2008.

From 2008 he then worked as a postdoc in the working group for bioinformatics at the Center for Medical Biotechnology (ZMB) at the University of Duisburg-Essen . In 2011 Dominik Heider was awarded the Germany - Land of Ideas Prize for his work in the field of HIV research . Furthermore, he has been visiting professor at the University of Cagliari since 2009 and a member of the Global Young Faculty of the Mercator Foundation since 2011 . In June 2012 Heider was appointed private lecturer for the subject bioinformatics and in September 2012 he was appointed to the academic council at the University of Duisburg-Essen. In June 2013, his habilitation thesis was awarded the Gottschalk-Diederich-Baedeker Prize .

From May 2014 to September 2016 Heider was Professor of Bioinformatics at the Science Center in Straubing . Since October 2016 Heider has been Professor of Bioinformatics in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Philipps University of Marburg .
