The Green Army ( зеленоармейцы / selenoarmejzy ), informally also known as the Green or Green Partisans , was a partisan army in the Russian Civil War . It was founded in 1918 and consisted of 30,000 men. Most were peasants dispossessed or deserted by the Red Army . They fought both the Red and White Armies to oppose their food confiscation.
