Green angel

The Green Angel is an award from the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection , which has been given to personalities and associations for their voluntary work in nature conservation since 2011 .

The Green Angel award was presented for the first time in 2011 by the Bavarian State Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection on the occasion of the European Year of Volunteering . People are honored for their exemplary achievements and their long-term, sustainable, voluntary commitment in the environmental sector. This includes, for example, participation in the mapping of species protection , species support measures, activities in the nature protection watch or in nature conservation advisory boards , the implementation of biotope maintenance measures or natural history tours as well as engagement in environmental education .

The award is presented once a year by the incumbent Bavarian Minister for the Environment at festive receptions in the seven Bavarian administrative districts . The people honored with the Green Angel receive a certificate and a badge of honor. A maximum of 100 people (throughout Bavaria) are awarded the Green Angel annually.
