Green ribbon for exemplary talent promotion in the club

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Green Belt for exemplary promotion of talent in clubs is a prize awarded since 1986 by Commerzbank AG and the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) for clubs that are particularly committed to promoting young talent in competitive sports . Every year 50 sports clubs, regardless of their size or the popularity of their sport, receive an award that is associated with a grant of 5,000 euros each.

The jury bases its decisions on the following standardized award criteria, which are based on the 2020 young talent sports concept of the German Olympic Sports Confederation:

  • Basis of talent scouting
  • Information on the systematic promotion of talent
  • Representation of the coach situation
  • Cooperation with other institutions (e.g. associations, state sports federations, business, schools)
  • Information on sports medicine advice, nutritional advice and general prevention work
  • Type and scope of further social and community engagement of the association / department
  • Management development as well as evidence of national and international successes in the youth and top level

The annual application period begins in mid-December and ends on March 31 of the following year. The five-member jury selects the current winners at the end of June. A top-class jury is behind the decision as to which 50 clubs will be honored for exemplary promotion of young talent. In 2016 it consisted of Michael Vesper (CEO of the German Olympic Sports Confederation), Uwe Hellmann (Head of Brand Management at Commerzbank), Karin Augustin (President of the State Sports Association of Rhineland-Palatinate), Ole Bischof (Vice President of Competitive Sports of the German Olympic Sports Confederation) and Meike Evers- Rölver (representative of the athletes' committee, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) 2008 to 2011).

In the past 30 years, more than 200,000 children and young people from around 1,800 clubs have benefited from the sponsorship bonus associated with the “Green Belt”.

On the occasion of the anniversary, in addition to the 50 award winners, three “Green Ribbons of Honor” were awarded for the first time in 2016 to associations that have made outstanding contributions in the areas of sustainability, social commitment and international success over the past three decades. The Berlin TSC , TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and the Deaf Bergfreunde Munich were honored with the special prize .
