Adam Wilhelm von Sydow

Adam Wilhelm von Sydow (born May 15, 1650 ; † July 17, 1711 ) was a Prussian major general and heir on Rehdorf.

Life

origin

Adam Wilhelm came from the noble family Sydow . He was the son of Adam von Sydow, Herr auf Rehdorf, and his wife Hyppolitha, née von Sack from the Butterfelde family. His brother was the later Prussian Lieutenant General Baltzer Friedrich von Sydow .

family

Sydow married Maria von Horker (* August 6, 1659, † September 9, 1712), the heir to Daniel von Horcker on Hanseberg. The couple had a son:

  • Daniel Friedrich (* 1675; † December 21, 1727)
∞ Luise von Schöning (born June 3, 1682 - † June 15, 1705), daughter of Hans Ehrenreich von Schöning
∞ Barbara Juliana von Hagen, daughter of Hans Joachim von Hagen

Military career

From June 28, 1689, Sydow was a lieutenant colonel in the Guard and rose to the position of colonel and commander of the "von Sydow" battalion at the end of July 1692 . As such, he took part in the 1693/95 campaign against the Turks. From 1702 to 1709 Sydow fought against France . In the meantime Frederick I had promoted him to major general on March 5, 1703 and appointed commander of the infantry regiment "von Grumbkow" .

Property ownership

In 1703 Adam Wilhelm von Sydow bought the Klein Zarnow manor in the district of Greifenhagen , which remained in the family until 1773.
