Baltzer Friedrich von Sydow

Baltzer Friedrich von Sydow (born March 21, 1652 in Neumark ; † May 31, 1733 in Küstrin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general , commander of the Küstrin fortress and heir of Radduhn and Zellin .

Life

Baltzer Friedrich came from the aristocratic family Sydow . He was the son of Adam von Sydow, Herr auf Rehdorf, and his wife Hyppolitha, née von Sack from the Butterfelde family. His brother was the later Prussian major general Adam Wilhelm von Sydow .

Military career

In 1692 Sydow became captain of the Kurmark Guard and was part of the Brandenburg troops that were sent to Hungary to fight the Turks . In the battle of Slankamen he was seriously injured as a lieutenant colonel . In 1693 he set up a battalion of foot soldiers. In 1695 it was upgraded to a regiment , of which he became the first chief . From then on it was called the "Sydow on foot" regiment . In 1701 he became a colonel and on October 8, 1701 he became a brigadier . In January 1705 he was appointed commandant of Küstrin. On September 19, 1709 he was with the Prussian troops in the republican Netherlands when he was appointed major general. On September 16, 1720, he was promoted to lieutenant general and on January 31, 1721, Sydow diminished from his post as commandant of Küstrin. He died on May 31, 1733 in Küstrin.

Sydow had been married to Anna Louise von Mörner from the Zellin house since 1689 . The couple had several children:
