Graduate Women in Science

Graduate Women in Science (GWIS) , formerly Sigma Delta Epsilon Graduate Women in Science (SDE-GWIS) , is an international organization for women in science that was founded in 1921 at Cornell University in Ithaca , New York , USA . The organization currently has over a thousand members and dozens of sections in the United States, as well as an international section established in 2013.

The organization is committed to connecting, leading and empowering women in science. It does this by offering grants, awards and grants, building an international network of women scientists, organizing annual conferences as well as meetings and symposia, publishing a free monthly newsletter, and promoting the participation of women in science-related events. Members can be men and women who have acquired at least a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline.
