Grail Message: In the Light of Truth is a three-volume work by Abd-ru-shin (real name Oskar Ernst Bernhardt ). It contains 168 lectures from the years 1923–1937.

content

In his Grail Message, Abd-ru-shin deals with topics such as birth and death, free will, responsibility, fate, women and men, humans and animals, natural beings, the crucifixion of Christ, the forgiveness of sins, the structure and laws of the world and many others. The Grail Message claims to provide comprehensive answers to questions about the structure of the world and the meaning of human life, its origin and goal in the 168 lectures. The author takes the point of view that, even in questions that concern the spiritual, convincing knowledge can only arise through ruthless weighing and testing, which alone has value, but never through unreflected, blind faith.

In order to live properly, a person must understand the following laws, among others, and follow them:

1. The law of interaction: All consequences of thinking, speaking and acting fall back on the originator after a certain time, for better or for worse. Man is free in setting the causes, but he can never escape the consequences, whereby his karma and his fate are also formed.

2. The law of attraction of the like: Every kind attracts the like, according to the proverb “like and like to join”: this is how drinkers find each other, smokers have “sympathies”. But people with noble goals would also come together. Thus, the vernacular is right to say "Tell me who you are dealing with and I will tell you who you are!"

3. The law of gravity shows itself in nature z. B. by the sinking of materials of higher density. Of course, this law also applies to the will and thinking of people who, with their feelings and thoughts, can bring about light (= light) or dark (= heavy) things.

4. The law of balance: It shows itself in the natural processes in the alternation of day and night, inhalation and exhalation, ingestion and excretion, etc. For humans it is the task of keeping give and take in balance. As a result, he receives the reward for constructive action automatically, but also has to work off the consequences of his wrong actions, his karma, himself and cannot be redeemed by others.

5. The law of movement is omnipresent, in the micro- and macrocosm, in this and the hereafter. So it affects both the earthly body of a person and its core, the spirit. The body needs exercise to be healthy. The mind needs a lofty, noble aim if it is to remain powerful and to ascend. One of the ancestors of this law lies in the saying: "Standstill is decline".

If these laws are not understood, ignored, this cannot bring anything good, but instead misfortune, discord and chaos. Failure to follow these laws can result in problems or even catastrophes, regardless of whether in politics, families, individuals or economies, or weather and other natural forces.

It is therefore the task of humans to recognize the laws and act accordingly. So that the divine laws can work as helping friends and promote people.

The actual human being is explained as a spirit (the innermost core of the soul), which - coming from the non-material - has connected itself to an earthly body for his earthly life.

The fate of man is described in the Grail Message as a finely tuned result of the repercussions of his previous actions and decisions, which can also lie in a previous earth life. Repeated earth lives are therefore presented as an important key to solving the riddle of the various, apparently unjust fate of people.

Decisive for the spiritual ascent is not the religion of a person, but the strength of his striving for the immortal, the pure and the higher, regardless of which denomination he belongs to or is not denominationally oriented.

Abd-ru-shin describes in his lectures a hierarchical structure of the world, whereby, according to the law of gravity, everything more perfect is closer, everything imperfect is further away from the origin, and also gives explanations about God, through whose power everything arose directly or indirectly and kept alive. God is the source of man's inconceivable power that drives the laws of nature. Since these laws are perfect, God does not intervene directly in the earthly either. God is outside the world and no human being has anything divine in him. Because of his completely different nature, man would never be able to come directly to God. God does not need man, but man needs God. True worship of God shows itself in joyous deed.

What is visible to humans is only a small part of the entire world, and this alone can be explored with the mind and with technical aids, but not everything beyond that, which, however, can still be grasped by the spiritual core of the human being up to the point of its origin . The one-sided raising of the mind in connection with the indolence of the spirit is emphasized as the self-inflicted basic evil of mankind, which has caused its wrong development and a considerable cosmic harmony disorder.

All suffering in the world can ultimately be traced back exclusively to the constant abuse of the free will of man, which, according to the law of interaction, has produced the similar consequences from which humanity now has to suffer.

The Grail Message also deals with topics such as immaculate conception, baptism, resurrection of a carnal body, forgiveness of sins, atonement death on the cross. The work of Jesus of Nazareth, who is recognized as the Son of God, describes Abd-ru-shin as a great auxiliary mission of God through which the truth was brought to mankind. In doing so, Jesus did not intend to found a church or religion, but rather to show the path to ascent, which man must necessarily walk himself. Concerning the so-called atonement death on the cross, Abd-ru-shin explains that this was a crime, a murder of Jesus and consequently could not bring about the reconciliation of God with humanity, since it would contradict all natural laws and justice.

The position and task of man

The Grail Message describes the special responsibility of man for creation: He can use the power of his will to do good or bad through his own decisions. Thus, people could transform their environment into a "paradise". Whereas with a predominantly material attitude of humans, their immediate surroundings and the whole planet earth suffer too. As a first step towards an ideally striving humanity, Abd-ru-shin recommends his readers “to keep the focus of thoughts pure”, which would result in peace and harmony.

Independence of the Grail Message

The Grail Message speaks to the individual, wants to encourage him to be independent. Therefore, Abd-ru-shin strictly rejects the usual associations, churches or sects around his Grail Message.

Emergence

From 1923, Abd-ru-shin gradually published his first lectures in seven volumes under the title “Grail Leaves - New Grail Message”.

Key data on the creation of the Grail Message in book form:

  • In 1926 Abd-ru-shin summarized 43 of his lectures and published them in the book "In the Light of Truth" New Grail Message.
  • In 1931 the next edition of the Grail Message appeared, in which Abd-ru-shin rearranged his earlier lectures and included others. This edition comprised 91 lectures.
  • In 1934, 61 new lectures were published in the book "Echoes of the Grail Message".
  • In 1941 Abd-ru-shin completed the revision of his Grail Message and given it its final form. Its final edition with 168 lectures in three volumes includes lectures from the previous editions and newly added ones. Abd-ru-shin died on December 6, 1941.
  • In 1950 the final edition was published for the first time.

Abd-ru-shin has continuously expanded the Grail Message since it was first published in book form in 1926. The subsequent editions contain new, revised, newly titled and rearranged lectures. Even after the publication of the Grail Message edition in 1931 and the “Echoes of the Grail Message” in 1934, he wrote further lectures. He did not publish any new lectures until he was arrested by the National Socialists in 1938. During the period of his internment until he passed over in 1941, he revised his work, withdrew the publication of some lectures, added new lectures that had not yet been published in book form, which led to his final edition in three volumes.

Rumors that Abd-ru-shin did not make the changes to his work himself and did not determine the final three-volume form himself were countered by his stepdaughter Irmingard Bernhardt as early as 1956 with an officially certified declaration:

   "The Grail Message was
revised by its author, Mr. Oskar Ernst Bernhardt, himself between 1939 and 1941."

As a close colleague of Abd-ru-shin, who also stood by him during his internment from 1938 to 1941, she also made a handwritten declaration in 1985.

Reception of the Grail Message

It is the National Socialist rulers who arrested the author of the Grail Message on the very first day of Hitler's troops marching into Austria and handing Abd-ru-shin over to the Secret State Police (Gestapo).

Abd-ru-shin's books published by the Munich publishing house “Der Ruf” had already been confiscated, his main work “In the Light of Truth” and all other works by Abd-ru-shin had been banned in Germany, and from 1938 also in annexed Austria.

Until his untimely death on December 6, 1941, Abd-ru-shin was under constant surveillance by the Gestapo and was not allowed to publish his writings any further.

The Protestant theologian Kurt Hutten writes in great detail about the Grail Message in his work "Seher - Brooders - Enthusiasts". He presents the contradictions to the church's interpretation of the Bible as profound: among other things, with regard to Abd-ru-shin's declarations that the earthly birth of Jesus must have been preceded by an earthly procreation and that the resurrection and ascension of Christ towards the soul body of Jesus and not to his earthly body. The representation of the Grail Message, that God did not send Jesus to earth to have him murdered by people for the forgiveness of their sins, is also not approved by the Christian churches.

Abd-ru-shin describes his message as being entirely in accordance with the true words of Jesus. In contrast, the Protestant Church sees the Grail Message as far removed from the biblical Church Christianity. In their opinion, this represents "a new religious design - within the broad Christian cultural area."

Abd-ru-shin himself reports on "waves of indignation", caused by his declaration that although man is a creature of God, he does not carry anything divine himself.
