Gramophone Classical Music Awards

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Gramophone Classical Music Awards are among the most important prizes in classical music . They have been awarded annually since 1977 by the English magazine Gramophone , which they would even like to see understood as the " Oscars of classical music". Every month, around a dozen recordings are also selected as Gramophone (formerly: Editor's) Choice . In addition, in each Christmas issue, each critic chooses his four to five favorites of the year. In addition, a Gramophone Hall of Fame was founded in 2012 , into which 50 people important to the classical music industry have been admitted. Critics of Gramophone , especially from the USA, accuse Gramophone of having too great an affinity for British artists and the music industry, especially the British record company EMI Group .
