Grand Central Airport ( IATA code GCJ , ICAO code FAGC ) is a small airfield in Midrand between Johannesburg and Pretoria in South Africa .
history
The airport site was bought by Harry Shires in 1937 as a speculative property and made available to a group of young aviators as an airfield. In the 1960s the airfield was expanded. In 2011 a license was applied for in order to be able to offer international connections.
Airport facilities
Grand Central is a fully equipped airfield and is open 24/7. The complex has a modern terminal building (although there are no customs facilities). It is also the base of numerous flight schools for planes and helicopters. The runway is 1828 m long and 23 m wide.
