Grand Vin

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grand Vin , French for "great wine", is the representative product of a large winery , preferably in the Bordelais .

It is the prestigious product and the qualitative identification of the winery . This wine shows what was possible in the respective vintage , using the available technology, knowledge and staffing.

In addition to the Grand Vin , “smaller wines”, the second wines , and sometimes also third wines or wines with an appellation label are often produced that are of less quality than the Grand Vin . In these areas, the grapes are found in less sunny locations or young plantings, which can only be taken into account later when the yield qualities meet the requirements of the Great Wine .
