Granite Symposium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Granite Symposium Milevsko took place from 1992 to 1996 in the South Bohemian city of Milevsko , Czech Republic . It was a cross-national symposium, which can be understood as part of the so-called symposium movement, which took place for the first time as the sculpture symposium St. Margarethen in Austria under the leadership of Karl Prantl in 1959. All symposia in Milevsko took place with the participation of international sculptors.

organization

The sculptors use granite , which they work in a stonemasonry in Prilepov near Milevsko. The granite used comes from a quarry near Milevsko from Štepanovice near České Budějovice and was of no economic interest for the stonemasonry.

The sculptures are located in the Bazantnice Park in Milevsko and in Stromovka in Ceske Budejovice. The granite symposia received support from the City Museum and the Milevsko Cultural Association as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the City of Milevsko and other sponsors.
