Granny takes a trip

Granny Takes a Trip was a boutique in London , Nigel Waymouth (later Hapshash and the Colored Coat ), his girlfriend Sheila Cohen and John Pearse in February 1966 in the King's Road opened 488th The shop was considered to be the "first psychedelic boutique in Swinging London in the 1960s" ( first psychedelic boutique in "Swinging London" in the 1960s ). In 1969 Freddie Hornik took over the store and opened branches in New York and Los Angeles . Stores closed in the 1970s and 1980s.

Granny Takes a Trip is also the name of a song by the British rock band The Purple Gang from 1967. The song is named after the boutique.

Granny Takes a Trip has been used as a brand name several times without any direct reference to the original London boutique.
