Grapher is a computer program that is supplied as part of Apple's OS X operating system . It enables both simple and complex graphs to be represented graphically in two and three dimensions. The scope of performance of Grapher is outlined by the examples attached to the program, which range from differential and integral equations to toroids to Lorenz attractors . The skills also include the representation of functions and combinations thereof. The appearance of a graph can be customized by varying the color of the lines, assigning one of many patterns to a surface, or adding comments that can also be formatted. Animations can also be created with Grapher either by changing constants of the graph or by panning the view onto the graph.
history
Before OS X existed, Graphing Calculator , which is similar to today's Grapher, was sold more than 20 million times as of 1994 as part of earlier Apple operating systems . With the introduction of OS X, a graph program was missing from the functional scope of the operating system. On July 22nd, 2004 , Apple bought the program Curvus Pro X Arizona Software and renamed it Graphing Calculator before it was decided to call it Grapher . The news was posted on AppleInsider on September 15, 2004 .
With macOS 10.15 (Catalina), Apple Grapher is no longer included in the scope of delivery of the operating system and its further development will be discontinued. Users who already have an older macOS version of Grapher can continue to use it as it is a 64-bit application.
Functions
Grapher is a comprehensive program for graphic calculations, capable of creating both 2D and 3D graphs, be it using Euclidean, logarithmic, double logarithmic or polar coordinates, even vector fields are possible. Grapher is a Cocoa application. The simultaneous display of several graphs within a coordinate system is just as possible as the export of equations in the LaTeX format . It is one of the few high-end graphics programs that can export standard-compliant vector graphics . In addition, examples are given in the menu bar that make it easier to get started with the new program.
