The Gratkorner Basin , also Gratwein Basin , Gratwein-Gratkorner Basin or Gratkorn-Gratwein Basin , is an inner-Alpine valley section of the Mur north of Graz , which opens to the West Styrian Riedelland .

The heart of the Gratkorner Basin in the Middle Murtal consists of fluvioglacial accumulations that were poured in after the cold periods. The eastern and southwestern parts of the basin, on the other hand, consist of tertiary loose material and are therefore similar to the silt lands of the foreland. Today, the valley widening is largely taken up by settlement, traffic and industrial areas.
