The Gray Rock is a cliff rock in the South Atlantic . It is the third largest island in the western group of the Clerke Rocks , surrounded by numerous other cliffs and surf pillars and a popular breeding area for Antarctic seabirds .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the island in 2009. It is named after James Gray, boatswain on board the HMS Adventure on the second South Sea voyage (1772-1775) of the British navigator James Cook , in which in 1775 the Clerke Rocks were discovered.
