Great Western and Uxbridge Railway

The Great Western and Uxbridge Railway was a British railway company based in Middlesex , England .

The company received on July 16, 1846 the concession to build a railway line from West Drayton to Uxbridge in the north. On July 22, 1847, the company was taken over by the Great Western Railway . The line built in the broad gauge of 2140 mm was opened on September 8, 1856. In 1871 it was converted to standard gauge and in 1880 a second track was laid.

Passenger traffic was stopped on September 10, 1964 and freight traffic on July 13, 1964.
