The “National Hellenic Museum” documents the history of Greek migration to the USA

After the first Greeks moved to Chicago around 1840, the Greek Diaspora concentrated in a neighborhood named "The Delta" from the shape and the Greek letter. Along with Pilsen and Little Italy (Chicago) , it was one of three ethnic neighborhoods in the city. The construction of the campus of the University of Illinois at Chicago and an expressway made it necessary to move, and in 1960 the new Greektown was occupied.

Similar to other Greektowns, the district changed from an ethnic residential district to a nightlife district with Greek restaurants and specialty shops in 1970. In 2015 the sculpture "Nautilus" by Suzanne Horwitz was purchased for the purpose of artistic enhancement.
