Green Griffin

Green Griffin was the name of the operation of a military maneuver by the Dutch Koninklijke Landmacht and the German Armed Forces from May 6 to 24, 2019 in the Lüneburg Heath and central Lower Saxony . Airborne operations should be trained in connection with air strikes in the context of a NATO defense case.

The binational exercise took place under the leadership of the Rapid Forces division in the Bergen-Celle area. Transport machines of the type C-130 Hercules and the helicopters AH-64 Apache , NH90 and CH-47 Chinook were used . The Bundeswehr also used the pure Tiger combat helicopter and combat vehicles. The paratroopers' air landing operations by plane or helicopter were launched from Celle-Arloh airfield . There were also missions in the Verden and Uelzen region and between Nienburg, the Ostenholzer Moor and Luttmersen.
