The Green Line ( Green Line ; Arabic الخط الأخضر, DMG al-ḫaṭṭ al-aḫḍar ) is one of the two currently operated subway lines of the Dubai Metro in Dubai . It should be 23.9 km long. 22.5 km are currently in operation.

Infrastructure

route

The Green Line runs from the al-Qusais district ( Etisalat station ) parallel to Dubai Creek , passes under it and then runs parallel again on the other side via Dubai Healthcare City ( Healthcare City station ) to the Al Jaddaf stations, which opened in March 2014 and creek . 7.9 km of the route run underground.

Stations

The Green Line has a total of 18 stations, eight of which are tunnel stations . The extension of two more, Al Jaddaf and Creek , opened in March 2014. The Union station in Deira is one of the two intersections of the Red Line and Green Line and the largest underground underground station in the world: 230 by 50 meters by three Floors. The second station where the Red Line and Green Line intersect is Khalid bin Al Waleed . At the al-Qusais station to the south-east, a park-and-ride car park with 3,000 parking spaces is being attempted to attract car commuters from Sharjah to the metro.

history

As with the Red Line, the corresponding tunnel sections were built under the surface using shield driving . After the Red Line was partially opened on September 9, 2009, the Green Line followed exactly two years later on September 9, 2011.

business

Operating time is from 5:50 a.m. to midnight, on Thursdays and Fridays until 1:00 a.m. On Friday mornings there is no traffic. The duration of a journey between the terminal stops is 27 minutes.

future

In October 2010 it was announced that the Green Line would be extended as soon as possible to the southeast by a further 19.1 km to the emerging Dubai Academic City . The goal for this was given in 2017. With this second phase, the aim is to reach the many thousands of students and residents of the new districts in the vicinity of Academic City.
