Green Pine Radar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Green Pine Radar is an early warning and fire control radar developed by Elta Systems Ltd. (a subsidiary of Israel Aerospace Industries ) for the Arrow weapon systems. The radar unit is called EL / M-2080 and comprises the trailer-mounted radar unit with the phased array antenna , an electrical unit, the cooling system and the command post equipment . The EL / M-2080 "Green Pine" missile reconnaissance radar was specially built for the "Arrow 2" missile interception system as a further development of the "Phalcon" radar. The entire weapon system consists of the "Arrow 2" missiles, the "Green Pine" missile control radar and the "Citron Tree" fire control system.

The Green Pine Radar is an electronically tilted phased array radar in solid-state technology. It transmits in the L-band in the frequency range 500 MHz to 1000 MHz and was developed by Elta Music phased array radar . The radar works simultaneously in the airspace reconnaissance, target search, target tracking and missile control modes.

The radar can detect approaching targets up to a distance of 500 km and track them safely at target speeds of more than 3000 m / s. It then also works as a target lighting radar and guides the "Arrow 2" missiles to the target with a maximum deviation of 4 m.
