Green Room

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Green Room (also Greenroom ) refers to the (“waiting”) room, lounge area of a theater, studio or a comparable place in which there are actors who are not or no longer on stage or in front of it face the camera.

As for the origin of the expression, it is often said that such rooms were often painted green, which is usually no longer the case today.

In German-speaking countries, the expression appears regularly at the Eurovision Song Contest for the artist's stay zone that is repeatedly faded in during the always very lengthy voting phase on the winner. In the case of Stefan Raab's Bundesvision Song Contest , too , fade-ins were broadcast from an artist area, which is intentionally exaggerated by analogy with the ESC, which is also called the Green Room.
