Greg Joy

Gregory Andrew "Greg" Joy (born April 23, 1956 in Portland , Oregon , USA ) is a former Canadian high jumper .

His most significant achievement was winning the silver medal in the high jump at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. With a jumped height of 2.23 m, he placed behind the Pole Jacek Wszoła (2.25 m) and in front of the American Dwight Stones (2.21 m).

Joy won another silver medal at the 1978 Commonwealth Games in Edmonton. He was also the Canadian high jump champion three times in a row from 1976 to 1978. In 1978 he set an indoor world record with a jump of 2.31 m. His outdoor best is two inches below.

Greg Joy is 1.94 m tall and had a competition weight of 71 kg. He attended the University of Texas at El Paso and is married to canoeist and Olympic medalist Sue Holloway .
