In music, the gripping hand is called in connection with string instruments such as the guitar or the electric bass . Here, the gripping hand means the hand with which you grasp the strings , i.e. it determines which tone is played. It covers the neck of the instrument. In the case of a right-hander it is usually the left hand, in the case of a left-hander the right.
