The 115 km long Napfbergland border path is a long-distance hiking trail in Switzerland . It leads from Langenthal over the Napf ( 1408  m above sea level ) to the Brienzer Rothorn ( 2254  m above sea level ) and from there to the Brünig Pass . Most of the hikes lead over natural paths, past historical buildings, various viewpoints and over mountain peaks.

description

The Napfbergland border path begins in the Mittelland , crosses the Napfbergland and ends in the Emmental Alps . The route consists of six daily stages, which are also suitable as individual day trips thanks to the good public transport connections:

  • 1st hiking day: Langenthal 471 m - Huttwil 640 m, 25 km
  • Day 2: Huttwil 640 m - Napf 1408 m, 20 km
  • 3rd day of hiking: Napf 1408 m - Trubschachen 735 m, 17 km
  • 4th hiking day: Trubschachen 735 m - Marbach LU 863 m, 16 km
  • 5th hiking day: Marbach LU 863 m - Brienzer Rothorn 2254 m, 24 km
  • 6. Hiking day: Brienzer Rothorn 2254 m - Brünnigpass 1011 m, 12 km

There are overnight accommodations available at the stage locations. Since the 5th stage is very strict, almost 2000 meters in altitude, it is advisable to plan an additional stop halfway at Kemmeribodenbad 978 m or a little further at Salwideli 1353 m. In addition, a cable car runs between Marbach and Marbachegg at 1484 m.

history

The long-distance hiking trail is a joint venture between the four regions of Emmental , Entlebuch , Willisau and Oberaargau . It was opened in 1998 for the 150th anniversary of the modern Confederation ( Switzerland ). The Grenzpfad follows the culturally and historically significant border between the cantons of Bern and Lucerne and, among other things, leads past the baroque St. Urban monastery .
