Grenzweise is a term used in the Middle Ages to describe a district .

Also at the time there was a common law that was written down in a wisdom . Such a wisdom contained the district descriptions. They were created long before the first municipal boundary maps.

Many places and communities are first mentioned in a document in Grenzweisen, for example the towns of Heddinghausen , Stranzenbach or Dreisbach .
