The Griesheimer Museum at Groß-Gerauer-Straße 18 is a listed building in Griesheim .

History and description

The building was built in the 1900s according to plans by the architect G. Gerhardt. The building owner was the Jewish merchant family Löb. The large, two-story stone building has elaborate sandstone decorations and a beaver-tail-covered roof.

The property today

Since 1996 the restored building has housed the "Griesheimer Museum". The restored “museum barn” is located at the rear of the property. The barn was moved here from the estate of the Schupp family in Griesheim.

The museum documents the history of Griesheim.

Monument protection

The building is a typical example of a commercial and residential building from the Wilhelminian era with an urban nimbus in small towns in southern Hesse. For architectural, architectural and city-historical reasons, it is a listed building .
