Grimma flood of songs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Grimmaer songs flood is an international world music - festival , which so far between 2004 and 2009 to August 13 in Grimma was organized.

In 2002, the historic center of the small town was flooded by its tributary, the Mulde, on that day during the flood of the century on the Elbe. In 2004 that was the reason to thank the many helpers with a three-day festival. From this an annual tradition developed up to 2007. Over 200 international and national artists presented themselves in concerts and cabaret events in the historical backdrop of the old town. The patronage was initially the Grimma-born actor Ulrich Mühe ; after his death in 2007, his daughter Anna Maria Mühe continued his commitment.

The number of visitors fluctuated between 17,000 and 9,000 spectators during the last flood of songs in Grimma in 2009. Since 2010 there has been no festival.
