GrimmsMärchenReich is a museum of the city of Hanau , the birthplace of the fairy tale collectors Brothers Grimm . The so-called hands -on museum is intended to offer a “varied experience spectacle about the Brothers Grimm, their family and their famous fairy tales”. The offer is aimed in particular at families with children from 4 years of age and should invite people to join in and participate with the help of many "interactive elements". The museum is located in the Hanau Philippsruhe Castle .

The Museum GrimmsMärchenReich is one of several measures with which the city of Hanau wants to sharpen its profile as the Brothers Grimm City . A 30-member children's committee was involved in developing the content to ensure that the museum meets children's needs, according to the motto: by children for children . In this way, places such as a “whispering corridor”, a “place of transformation with a mirror cabinet”, a “reading area with listening stations” etc. have emerged. The head of the cultural office, Martin Hoppe, points out that among other things, the latest research results on the Brothers Grimm should make the museum interesting for adults too. The museum also has three museum educational rooms u. a. for the care of kindergarten groups and school classes. The castle wing that now houses the museum was previously used as a depot. Its renovation cost 1.6 million euros, and the city estimates the fairy tale kingdom at 410,000 euros. The museum opened on April 13, 2019.
