The Große Steedersee is located in the Sternberg lake landscape in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district northeast of Schwerin. The water is located in the municipality of Tempzin Monastery and borders in the northeast on the town of Warin in the district of Northwest Mecklenburg . The almost circular lake is approximately 450 meters wide and long. It is located in a wooded area, only on the east bank there is a small forest-free strip. The Bad Kleinen – Rostock railway runs south of the lake .
