Greater country sales point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Großraumlandverkaufstelle was the name for rural retail and service centers of the consumer cooperative in the GDR .

According to a resolution of the SED trade conference in 1959, a comprehensive network of such modernly equipped centers was to improve the previously inadequate supply of consumer goods and services in rural areas by 1965 . Serious difficulties in obtaining the sophisticated equipment and a lack of construction capacities prevented the plans from being realized. In total, only three large area sales outlets were completed as pilot projects , of which the Oderland department store in Siedenbollentin was the most important.
