The Großsporthalle Hämmerlingstraße is a multi-purpose sports hall in Berlin district of Treptow-Koepenick .

Location and facilities

The sports facility is located in the west of Köpenick just before the local border with Oberschöneweide and is located on the eponymous Hämmerlingstraße in the immediate vicinity of the An der Alten Försterei stadium . It offers seats for 1000 spectators.

The hall has three separable small fields that can be combined to form a large playing area. The volleyball field is highlighted in color. In addition to the hall, changing and shower rooms were created for the adjacent soccer fields.

history

The large sports hall was designed by the Berlin architect Numrich Albrecht Klumpp. Before that, there was a ball sports hall built in 1969/70 in the same place. The new hall was opened on October 24th, 2009 and has since served primarily the first women's team of Köpenicker SC in the volleyball Bundesliga as a training and home ground. The changing room is also used by the youth performance center of 1. FC Union Berlin , which plays its home games in the Alte Försterei .
