Great stone graves near Achim

The megalithic graves near Achim were three megalithic graves from the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Achim in the Verden district ( Lower Saxony ). They were destroyed in 1870 and 1876.

The graves were located in a mountain of sand near the Achim train station. Grave 1 was a few meters west of grave 1 and grave 2 was also 30 m to the west.

Grave 1 was 20 m long and 3.5 m wide; allegedly it was over 4 m high. Grave 2 was a little smaller. Grave 3 was 11.5 m long and 3.5 m wide; the height here was also allegedly over 4 m. It had six wall stones 2-3 m high and three cap stones. The exact grave type of the facilities cannot be determined with certainty on the basis of this information, also because it is not clear whether the dimensions refer to the megalithic bed or the burial chamber .
