Large stone graves near Anderlingen

The megalithic graves near Anderlingen were three megalithic graves of the Neolithic funnel beaker culture near Anderlingen in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) ( Lower Saxony ). They were destroyed in the 19th century.

According to Johannes Heinrich Müller, two graves were still preserved around 1871, one of which was located southeast of the village on a small hill on the large wood and the second was located northwest of Anderlingen on a hill. The location of the third grave, which was already destroyed at the time, has not been recorded.

Grave 1

Grave 1 was already badly damaged by 1871. There was still a single capstone that rested on two wall stones in the northwest and on the ground in the southeast. More small stones lay around in disarray. The capstone was 11 feet 3 inches (about 3.3 m) long , 10.5 feet (about 3.1 m) wide, and 4 feet (1.2 m) thick. It is no longer possible to determine the type of grave.

Grave 2

The capstone of Tomb 2 was 9 feet (2.6 m) long and 4.5 feet (1.3 m) wide. Further information on this system is missing.

Grave 3

No more detailed information is available about grave 3.
