description

Grave 1

Grave 1 after von Estorff

The complex has a north-south oriented burial chamber with a length of 7.5 m and a width of 1.8 m. In its original state, it should have had six or seven pairs of wall stones on the long sides. When Georg Otto Carl von Estorff took it in around 1846, the grave showed major damage: the northern end stone had been dragged outwards, some wall stones on the long sides were missing and all four remaining cap stones had fallen into the interior of the chamber. When Ernst Sprockhoff was re-enrolled in 1927, the condition of the facility had deteriorated even further. He found three wall stones on the eastern long side in their original positions and was able to identify another stone as a capstone. Other surrounding stones could no longer be precisely assigned and an exact reconstruction of the original appearance of the complex is not possible.

Grave 2

The grave has a round mound with a diameter of 18 m and a height of 1 m. About half a dozen stones lie around randomly within the mound and provide no information about the original appearance of the burial chamber.

Grave 3

Some stones mark the location of a possible third large stone grave, which Sprockhoff does not mention. The largest and most noticeable one has a series of blast holes on one side.
