Large stone grave Bernte

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The large stone grave Bernte (also called Dobbenstein ) was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Bernte , a district of Leschede , a village of Emsbüren in the Emsland district ( Lower Saxony ). It was destroyed in the 19th century.

location

The grave was located southwest of the village in the Bernter Sand dune area.

description

The system was buried deep in the sand around 1840 and was probably no longer well preserved at that time and perhaps only of smaller dimensions. In the following years it was probably largely destroyed. In 1927 Ernst Sprockhoff could only make out a single large stone lying in the sand, which might have belonged to the grave. No information is available about the orientation, dimensions and type of grave of the facility.
