Great stone grave Garlstorf
The large stone grave Garlstorf was a megalithic grave complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near Garlstorf in the district of Harburg ( Lower Saxony ). It was in the forest and, according to a report from 1809, was only partially preserved at that time. It possessed a rectangular barren bed , probably oriented east-west , of which five stones were still preserved on the western narrow side, six on the southern and five on the northern long side. At the eastern end of the bed was the burial chamber , of which three wall stones and a huge capstone 16 feet long , 12 feet wide and thick 5 feet (about 1.5 m) were preserved. The exact type of grave cannot be determined from this information.
