The Großsteingrab Mundersum (also Großsteingrab Mundersumer Sand or Großsteingrab im Mundersumer Sand ) is a burial complex of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near the district of Mundersum in the district of Emsland , Lower Saxony, which belongs to Lingen (Ems) . It bears the Sprockhoff number 876.

location

The grave is located about two kilometers west of Mundersum in a dune area called "Mundersumer Sand" within the Lingen State Forest.

description

The grave consists of a long, east-north-east-west-south-west oriented chamber, which is sunk deep into the ground. It has a length of 19.5 m, the width varies between 1.3 m and 2.5 m. A total of 17 wall stones have been preserved: the two end stones on the narrow sides, as well as seven stones on the northern and eight on the southern long side. Except for one wall stone on the south side and the eastern end stone, all seem to be in situ . There are also ten capstones, none of which are in situ. About a third of the fourth capstone from the west was blasted off. The blast holes are still clearly visible. Around 1890 there still seem to have been 15 stones in an oval frame. But today these have completely disappeared.
