The large stone grave Völkersen is a burial site of the Neolithic funnel cup culture near the district of Völkersen in the district of Verden , Lower Saxony, which belongs to the municipality of Langwedel . It was described by Ernst Sprockhoff in his Atlas of Germany's Megalithic Tombs, but was not given a number because of its poor state of preservation.
location
This complex is the only remaining large stone grave in the district of Verden. It is located about 2 km northeast of Völkersen in a parcel called Düvelshagen .
description
The grave is almost completely destroyed. Only one stone is left, which may be one of the closing stones of the burial chamber. In 1971 the pharmacist D. Schünemann carried out an excavation. The disturbed stone pavement of a small, north-south oriented burial chamber was uncovered. In its original state, the grave should have had nine wall stones.
